MakerSpace??? and SoloLunch!

Parents/ Guardians:
We are in the process of transforming the library at St. Nicholas into a “MAKERSPACE.” What is a MAKERSPACE? In simple terms, it is an area that allows for creativity and innovation to occur so that students can engage in learning experiences through real life connections. Within this MAKERSPACE our students will have the freedom to design, engineer, fabricate, create, build and collaborate. MAKERSPACES provide students with a place to tinker and develop something that may not have been possible to create without a space with resources. We are so excited to bring this opportunity to our students, but in order to have a space that is useful, we are in need of several items to be donated to the space.  If you are able, we would be so appreciative of any donation that you are willing to provide.

The items that we are in need of are:

·      Lego (previously loved or new)

·      K’nex (previously loved or new)

·      Toilet Paper and Paper Towel cardboard rolls

·      Cardboard boxes

·      Old magazines

·      Egg cartons

·      Plastic cups

·      Straws

·      Dry pasta (all shapes)

·      Plastic bottles

Through community support, we are able to bring this kind of workspace into our school so that every child can have access to a creative space to explore.  A huge thank you goes out to our St. Nicholas families for the efforts put into fundraising last year.  As a result, parent council was able to purchase a number of Chromebooks and our Dash and Dot robots.
