Year End Message to St. Nick Community!
Published on Jun 27, 2018 21:51

St. Nicholas Families,
Another year has flown by!  Congratulations to all of our students who have completed another year of their learning journey.  To our grade 8 students ~ you are embarking on another exciting opportunity, remember to make the most of it, become involved and explore new interests.  Think carefully about who you are ~ and who you hope to be;
surround yourself with things and people to help you develop into the person you hope to be.  We wish you all the best, God Bless!

Our Board’s theme for this year was ‘Our Story ~ Our Journey’.  St. Nicholas Catholic School has a unique ‘Story’, and the beginnings of St. Catherine of Sienna and St. Bernadette began within our own walls almost 20 years ago.  Students grow, graduate, and we are now at the point of our ‘Story’ where we have former students now sending their own children to St. Nicholas; we’ve become a next generation school.  Such a blessing and compliment to our school that former students have entrusted their children to us ~ Thank you!

As the year unfolded, there were many moments of celebration and so much to remember…. truly a year filled with many blessings and memories:  Clothing and Household Items collections, Christmas Tuck Shop, Good News Assemblies, Themed Spirit Days, Fun Day, Coding for Parents, Talent Show ~ all these activities brought forth our students special gifts and talents; some to support those less fortunate than us, and other activities to enjoy some fun together as the St. Nick family!

There were many extra-curricular activities for students throughout the year. Cross-country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, baseball, green team, tech team and hockey which all provided excellent opportunities for students to develop their talents. Many field trips were planned to extend the learning beyond the classroom walls and into our community.

Many St. Nicholas students celebrated sacraments: Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation - Congratulations to all who received these sacraments this school year!

I would like to sincerely thank Parent Council for their support of our students!  I look forward to welcoming new parents and returning parents to council.  Your time and commitment is sincerely appreciated ~ you work and endeavour for ALL our students and truly support their learning!  Thank you to all the staff for your gift of time and talents throughout the year for the good of all our students. Your servant leadership shined through as you worked to help all our children develop their God-given talents. God bless you for your dedication to our school.

And finally ~ we are a community, a learning community, a faith-filled community. Our objective is ONE, our supports are all-encompassing: your children, our students, and all of us are blessed to be members of this ‘home’, St. Nicholas Catholic School Community.

I would like to leave you all with an ‘Old Cherokee Saying’ … I shared it last year too ~ but it truly resonates with me.

Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents; it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors; we borrow it from our Children.

Thank you and God Bless, enjoy the warm restful days of summer. I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy the company of family and friends. See you back in September, ready and eager to learn.
